New Delhi’s retaliatory measures were decided at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi a day after terrorists gunned down a group of tourists in a picturesque meadow, marking the worst attack on civilians in the restive region in nearly two decades. “It [CCS] resolved that the perpetrators of the attack will be brought to justice and their sponsors held to account. As with the recent extradition of Tahawwur Rana, India will be unrelenting in the pursuit of those who have committed acts of terror, or conspired to make them possible,” Misri said. Investigators on Wednesday identified five terrorists who carried out the deadly attack near Pahalgam town a day ago, including three Pakistani nationals and two residents of J&K, as authorities released three sketches and announced a reward of ₹20 lakh for more information. The agencies named three Pakistani nationals - Asif Fauji, Suleman Shah and Abu Talha. The two Valley based operatives were identified as Adil Guri and Ahsan. Separatist leaders in the Kashmir Valley have echoed the global outcry, and the Union Territory observed a bandh to mourn the killings.
