Shell exited the top post at NBCU in April 2023 after acknowledging an "inappropriate" relationship with CNBC anchor Hadley Gamble following her formal complaint. Once David Ellison’s Skydance announced a deal to acquire Shari Redstone's National Amusements and then merge with Paramount Global, it also was confirmed that Shell would become president of the newly combined entity upon the deal's expected close in the first half of 2025.
