News Bites | Evictions Surge in Major Cities in the American Sunbelt | Tenant evictions look stuck at elevated levels in several corners of the U.S., showing little sign of returning to what was typical before the pandemic. Eviction filings over the past year in a half-dozen cities and surrounding metropolitan areas are up 35% or more compared with pre-2020 norms, according to the Eviction Lab, a research unit at Princeton University. Number of Agreed House Sales in the U.K. up 15% Annually | Over the past month, agreed house sales in the U.K. were up 15% year over year, according to Rightmove. A year ago, the U.K. market was struggling amid peak mortgage rates, but now, "game-changing" interest rate cuts are expected as early as August.
