Hi everyone, Have you ever stared at the departures board at an airport, looking at all the cities you could fly into, dreaming of what might happen if you hopped on a different flight, Home Alone 2 style? That's where my mind goes when I look at our new travel package, Where to Eat in 2024, featuring the 12 places we've coined the most exciting food destinations of the year. Whether you're looking for an Austrian ski town to visit in the next few months, a far-flung beach honeymoon, or an affordable Japanese metropolis, we've got a delicious location for your consideration — as well as stories highlighting what's exciting about its food scene, and of course, intel on where to eat. Closer to home, we've anointed Philadelphia and Sacramento as two cities worth planning a trip around, with award-winning restaurant scenes and reinvigorated diners, pizza spots, and ramen joints. But perhaps the highest honor goes to Milwaukee, our readers choice city. So many of you wrote in to tell us why Milwaukee can hold its own against any international destination, and that there's so much more to explore than cheese curds and beer (don't get me wrong, I would happily visit just for cheese curds and beer). Check out the full list, put together by senior editor Nick Mancall-Bital and brought to life beautifully by designers Marcello Bevilacqua and Nat Belkov. Figure out which one (or two or three) you're getting to this year, which should satiate the wanderlust a bit — until you get to the airport, at least. Below, as always, you'll find some of my favorite reads from the past two weeks. If you liked this email, please forward it to a friend or encourage them to sign up here.
