Big changes on the horizon for the Leicestershire landscape     From huge plans for Leicester's hospitals to the thousands of homes that could be built across the county, these are some of the biggest proposals that councils are still set to rule on. New homes are set to be built, businesses created and outdated buildings torn down or redeveloped to play a new role in communities. Among the projects in the pipeline are plans to further transform the former site of the world's largest footwear machinery manufacturer in Leicester - British United Shoe Machinery - to create 360 new homes. Art Deco cinema could be turned into flats     A historic Art Deco cinema that has stood empty for almost 20 years could be turned into flats. The dilapidated former Cannon cinema, in Hinckley, opened in the 1930s as the Danilo. It has changed hands several times over the years, finally becoming a sports bar in the late 1990s. Now developer Wigston Estates has applied to convert the building into 36 one-bedroom flats.   Read more
