The AMPTP suddenly released details last night of what it called a “comprehensive package” to address WGA concerns. The proposals aren’t exactly new. The two sides have now met six times since the AMPTP gave the guild these proposals on August 11. This evening’s unexpected release followed yet another meeting between WGA leadership, AMPTP leadership and several studio CEOs. It was an opportunity for the CEOs to directly tell the WGA leadership the benefits of their deal, which the guild later called a "lecture." The studios and streamers are offering the WGA “increased data transparency” which will be comprised of “viewership data in the form of quarterly confidential reports,” provided to the guild. The guild's response? "This wasn’t a meeting to make a deal," the WGA said in a statement. "This was a meeting to get us to cave, which is why, not 20 minutes after we left the meeting, the AMPTP released its summary of their proposals. "This was the companies’ plan from the beginning – not to bargain, but to jam us. It is their only strategy – to bet that we will turn on each other." >>>Read Both Statements |

“Somebody told me it’s never going to end,” says Ondi Timoner, “and I’m starting to believe it.” When she spoke with Deadline’s Damon Wise, more than 18 months had passed since Timoner had flown to Park City for the Sundance premiere of her achingly personal film Last Flight Home, and by the usual rule of thumb its journey should now be well and truly over. The director hasn’t been idle; her follow-up, The New Americans: Gaming a Revolution, debuted at SXSW in the spring, and her latest film, The INN Between, is in full swing. But the power of Last Flight Home holds steady. >>> An Ongoing Journey |

Gran Turismo originally was scheduled to open on August 11, but Sony decided to pivot to previews for two weeks prior to the pic’s opening this Friday in an effort to drum up word of mouth since the cast wasn’t available due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. Previews are estimated to be in the $3M-plus range. That cash will be rolled into Gran Turismo ‘s first Friday, which would boost the movie’s opening weekend to an estimated $15M in 3,800 theaters.
