The Cannes Film Festival’s Official Selection lineup, which was announced this morning in Paris, promises an event rich with returning auteurs, newcomers in the mix, and, bien sûr, a fair share of glamour. As Deadline has previously reported, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will world premiere out of competition as will Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon, while Wes Anderson’s mega-ensemble Asteroid City was confirmed in competition. In total, that latter section, which may yet be expanded, includes new works from previous Palme d’Or winners, familiar names and filmmakers who made the cut for the first time. The mix of so-called “usual suspects” and fresh faces, encouragingly features six female filmmakers. In general, the Official Selection is a refreshingly global lineup with star power to spare. >>>Usual Suspects And Fresh Faces More coverage: The Full Lineup Six Female Directors Will Have Films In Competition, The Most Ever First-Look Images Of Un Certain Regard Selection 'The Breaking Ice' |
