Hello and a warm welcome to the Best of CheshireLive newsletter.

So, what do we think of the possibility of Chester being turned into a '15-minute city'? The council says it is still exploring the option of introducing the concept, which involves redesigning urban areas so that residents have access to everything they need – work, shops, medical services, parks, leisure facilities – all within a 15-minute walk or short cycling distance from where they live.

Elsewhere, we reveal the worst-rated GP surgeries in the county with our new interactive map and this week's poll is centred on whether you back plans for part of a Cheshire town to be the location for a hydrogen village trial.

Find out more below and, as ever, thank you for reading.

Plans to transform Chester into '15-minute city' are being explored, council confirms

The council says it is still exploring the possibility of turning Chester into a '15-minute city', a concept that recently led to protests in Oxford.

Some conspiracy theorists and commentators have gone further, claiming the plan is more sinister and aimed at keeping people penned in to their own neighbourhoods with Covid-style restrictions and surveillance technology. Read more

'Strong' support from residents 'critical' to fate of controversial hydrogen village trial

A Government minister has confirmed that the proposed hydrogen village trial in Ellesmere Port will only go-ahead if there is "strong local support".

Plans to convert around 2,000 homes in Whitby from using natural gas (methane) to hydrogen have been met with anger and concern from many residents who have even placed signs in their front windows opposing the idea.
