Hello,

Welcome to this week's Best of CheshireLive newsletter.

It's been a big week for Chester, with the unveiling of regeneration plans aimed at transforming the area around Chester Railway Station

The plans aim to make the area a destination in its own right and, if approved, would mark an exciting new era in the city's regeneration.

We loved reporter Jonathan Blackburn's feature on 'Cheshire's best kept secret' - lots of treasures to be found there.

We've also told some more hard-hitting stories this week, like the huntsman who threatened to 'kill' an animal welfare activist, and the tragedy of the 'devoted' couple who died within a day of each other.

Thank you for reading and supporting CheshireLive.

Chester 'Gateway' plans would see new homes, bridge and car park plus station square revamp

Among the proposals for 'The Gateway' are new homes, a multi-storey car park for the station, a high-quality pedestrian and cycle bridge next to the existing Hoole Bridge, public art and play spaces, and a tree-lined boulevard, rain garden and parklets on City Road.

'Cheshire's best kept secret': The treasure trove selling everything from bricks to chandeliers

A life-sized Churchill welcomes visitors in, flashing a famous 'V'. Past the ride-on chicken and a pair of marble Venuses, a barn covered in vintage metal signs stands across from a Victorian shopping arcade.

It sure is a surprising thing to find in a field outside Tarporley. The covered arcade is full of shop fronts painted in rich colours: A haberdashery and milliners, an apothecary, a pub, a cinema and an antique shop.

We obtained shocking footage of the moment a huntsman threatened to "f****** kill" an animal welfare activist while charging at him on his horse.

The disturbing clip, filmed during the Wynnstay Hunt near Malpas, Cheshire, shows the unnamed rider aggressively aiming his steed at Shaun Sant.

Besotted couple who 'lived life to the full' die just one day apart

A devoted Frodsham couple who were 'never apart' during their 40 years together have died within a day of each other.

Dianne Cade, 62, died suddenly just before Christmas and her devoted husband John, 65, died suddenly the following day, their devastated family have revealed.

The family of the couple, who were both motorbike enthusiasts from Sutton Weaver, say they were never apart and so they take some solace from the fact that they are now together again. Dianne passed away suddenly at home after a fall, with John passing away the following day.
