Monthly RE Update – November 2022
Our monthly market intelligence report on renewables covers the following content:

  • Tenders – In November 2022, 12 new renewable energy (RE) tenders with a cumulative capacity of 3,911 MW were issued.
    • SECI issued a tender for setting up of 1200 MW Wind-Solar Hybrid Projects under Tranche VI with assured Peak Power Supply in India.
    • NTPC issued 1200 MW solar (BOS) tender in Gujarat in November 2022. In addition, NTPC floated 1000 MW wind (BOS) tender in Karnataka.
  • Installed Capacity: In the month of October 2022, 988 MW of solar and wind capacity was added, taking the cumulative RE capacity to 119 GW.
  • Project Commissioned: Green Continuum Energy commissioned 87.5 MW hybrid project in Gujarat, SJVN commissioned 75 MW solar power project under UPNEDA's 275 MW solar tender in Uttar Pradesh.
  • Key deals/ financing trends:  In November 2022, about $1134 million was invested in the RE sector in India.         
  • IEX – PXIL GTAM Trend: The IEX and PXIL together traded a total of 153 MU in GTAM in November 2022, which is 7% lesser than the volume traded in October 2022. The average trade price in IEX-GTAM for November 2022 was INR 5.31/kWh, while for PXIL it was INR 4.9/kWh. This is about 26% and 15% higher than the previous month's prices.
  • Module price trends: Domestic module prices continues to show a downward trend in November 2022 along with a m-o-m decrease of around 1.6%.
  • Policy and regulations: In this month, 6 central and 10 state-level policies/ notifications/ regulations/ orders were issued.

Monthly EV Update - November 2022
Our monthly report on electric vehicles (EV) is a useful guide for automobile manufacturers, OEM suppliers, and investors to keep abreast of the latest updates in the sector. This monthly update covers the following content:

  • Product Launches:  13 new electric vehicles were launched, including 2 E-scooters by iVOOMi; 3 E-motorcycles by Ultraviolette; 1 E-motorbike; 3 E-Bicycles by Volton; 1 E3W food truck by Omega Seiki; and 3 E-Cars by Pravaig, Tata, and PMV. 1 new E-Car and 1 high-speed motorcycle are expected to be launched in December.  
  • EV Sales Trends: The overall EV sales in November 2022 increased to 1,19,949 units, registering a m-o-m rise of just 0.1% but a y-o-y leap of more than 185%
  • Policies and Regulations: At the state level, while Haryana's EV policy was notified, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) announced policy mandates for phasing out diesel-run autorickshaws in Delhi-NCR. At the central level, The Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) announced a list of safety tests that will be mandatory for electric vehicle manufacturers to follow to receive subsidies under various EV promotion schemes.
  • Charging Infrastructure and Battery Swapping:  More than 850 chargers to be installed in the coming months. This excludes plans of players like BOLT and Statiq to install ~30,000 chargers in the next few years.
  • Key Market Updates: Announcement of Ola rolling out its 1,00,000th scooter to Tata Motor's 50,000th EV as well opening of new EV showrooms and experience centres by leading E2W and E-Car manufacturers.
  • Deals & Investments: Investments worth ~INR386 crore announced in the segments of EVs and EV components
  • JVs & Partnerships: 23 new announcements during the month
  • Global Market Updates: Prominent EV-related developments captured
