Six glorious decades of James Bond

Daniel Craig, Barbara Broccoli, Michael G. Wilson and Michelle Yeoh

James Bond celebrates 60 years of cinematic history this week. October 5 was dubbed 'James Bond Day' and marked 60 years since the premiere of the first 007 film Dr No which starred Sir Sean Connery as the secret agent.

Since Bond first hit our screens there have been another 24 official films and six more actors have played 007 over six decades.

In that time the 007 franchise has delivered thrilling car chases, covert missions, martini swilling and a hefty dose of womanising, all in exotic locations. It's a staggering feat to survive decades of the shifting landscapes of politics and pop culture and still be a box office smash today – No Time to Die has raked in 774 million USD.

The enduring franchise was celebrated in a series of official events. The British Film Institute hosted a three-day James Bond celebration with a cast and crew Q&A that included producer Michael G. Wilson, writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade and actor Rory Kinnear.

The iconic music of 007 was also celebrated at The Sound Of 007 In Concert at the Royal Albert Hall. The show was curated by Bond composer David Arnold and featured 007 artists including Dame Shirley Bassey, Hans Zimmer, Lulu and Garbage.

James Bond Day also saw the premiere of a new Bond documentary of the same name, The Sound of 007, directed by Mat Whitecross.

The feature-length film reveals the history of Bond music from the genesis of Dr No's iconic theme through to Billie Eilish's Academy Award-winning title song for No Time To Die.

You can now recreate Bond experiences with private trips to James Bond locations where you can visit exotic destinations featured in the franchise and even try out thrilling 'Bond activities.'

Marking the 60th anniversary of James Bond's debut in cinema, UK/US luxury travel company Black Tomato is now an official travel partner to EON Productions and they are developing private 007-inspired travel experiences for fans.

Working with the Bond team, including some of their most longstanding location scouts, the holidays are expected to include cars, yachts, and helicopters together with spy-inspired adventures and experiences.

"We're incredibly honoured to be working with the James Bond team in this first-of-its-kind travel partnership for the 007 brand," explained Tom Marchant, co-founder of Black Tomato.

While the travel itineraries are still being developed, there are a few confirmed locations for the Bond trips so far including London, Paris and Lake Como. Perhaps you'll stroll around The National Gallery in London where Bond first meets Q in Skyfall, or visit Château de Chantilly near Paris which was featured in A View To A Kill.

All 25 Bond films back on Prime

Get ready for a Bond film binge as the 25 official Bond films are now back on Amazon Prime for a limited time only to celebrate 60 years of Bond.

The Bond collection arrived on the streaming giant earlier this year after Amazon bought Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) for $8.45 billion in 2021 but was taken off by June.

Thanks to the billion-dollar deal Amazon is now in a partnership with EON Productions – the UK-based production company that has made the 007 movies since 1962's Dr No.

Amazon and EON own half of the rights each, but ultimately the latter organisation has the final say on any changes.
