Monthly RE Update – July 2022
Our monthly market intelligence report on renewables covers the following content:

  • Tenders  In July 2022, 29 new renewable energy (RE) tenders with a cumulative capacity of 7568 MW were issued.
    • REMCL issued two big tenders- one a plain vanilla solar tender of 1548 MW and another 1000 MW of Round-the-Clock (RTC) tender with or without Storage.
    • MSEDCL also issued two tenders- a 1000 MW solar tender under Tranche V and another 500 MW solar tender under Phase VIII Tranche VI in Maharashtra.
    • GUVNL issued a 750 MW tender for purchase of grid connected solar power (Phase XVI) with greenshoe option of additional up to 750 MW.
    • MPUVNL floated a solar tender of 1250 MW under Component C of PM KUSUM Scheme.
  • Auction Completed: Auctions were concluded for GUVNL's 500 MW Phase III wind tender and KSEBL's 10 MW with 20 MWh BESS tender this month.
  • Installed Capacity: In the month of June 2022, 836 MW of solar and wind capacity was added, taking the cumulative RE capacity to 114.06 GW.
  • Key deals/ financing trends:  In July 2022, more than $358.29 million was invested in the RE sector in India.
  • IEX – PXIL GTAM Trend: The IEX and PXIL together traded a total of 193.4 MU in GTAM in July 2022, which is 23% lower than the volume traded in June 2022. The average trade price in IEX-GTAM for July 2022 was INR 5.54/kWh, while for PXIL it was INR 4.91/kWh. This is about 23% and 31% lower than the previous month's prices.
  • Module price trends: Domestic module prices have shown a downward trend in July 2022 as well with a m-o-m decrease of around 3%.
  • Policy and regulations: In this month, 6 central and 14 state-level policies/ notifications/ regulations/ orders were issued.

Monthly EV Update - July 2022

Our monthly report on electric vehicles (EV) is a useful guide for automobile manufacturers, OEM suppliers, and investors to keep abreast of the latest updates in the sector. This monthly update covers the following content:

  • Product Launches:  8 new electric vehicles were launched, including 5 E-scooters, 2 E-cars and 1 E-cargo three-wheeler. 2 new premium E-car launches are lined up for the upcoming months.
  • EV Sales Trends: The overall EV sales in July 2022 increased to 79,720 units, registering a m-o-m rise of 8.8%, but a y-o-y leap of more than 200%.
  • Policies and Regulations: Several Central and State-level policy developments took place this month. While the Chhattisgarh government approved its electric vehicle policy, the Goa government issued a notice to stop offering subsidies for electric vehicles in the state with effect from July 31, 2022.
  • Charging Infrastructure and Battery Swapping: Fresh updates on new charging infrastructure /battery swapping including installation of India's fastest electric vehicle charger in Gurgaon, Haryana by Kia.
  • Manufacturing Market Updates: Announcement of plans of setting up of manufacturing facilities by electric two-wheeler (E2W) and three-wheeler (E3W) OEMs as well as by cell manufacturers.
  • Deals & Investments: Investments worth ~INR 9,000 crore announced in the segments of E2W, E-car, and cells.
  • JVs & Partnerships: 10 new announcements during the month.
  • Global Market Updates: Prominent EV-related developments captured.
