Welcome to your James Bond newsletter The Exploding Pen | | Will Ana De Armas return for next Bond film? | | Ana De Armas burst onto the scene as Paloma in No Time To Die. She plays a funny and scene stealing CIA agent who claims to have only three weeks of training, despite her impressive combat skills.
Her short but sweet addition to the James Bond films has left many fans wondering if we will see see her in Bond 26 or even in a 007 spin-off.
The Cuban-Spanish actress was largely unknown on the Hollywood scene but her memorable roles in Knives Out, Blade Runner 2049 and Bond have catapulted her into well-deserved stardom.
Paloma is a new kind of 'Bond Girl' in the 007 franchise. She's resourceful and capable and she's not just there to bed Bond and be disposed of later. She is the Bond woman of the future and deserves an even more prominent role in the long-running franchise.
So far we haven't had any confirmation of a storyline or characters for the next instalment of James Bond but we do know it will be 'reinvented'.
Screenwriter and Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge is also rumoured to be writing Bond 26 on her own after she was brought on as one of four screenwriters on No Time To Die and became the second female to write a Bond script. If true, Waller-Bridge could bring back Paloma and create even more strong female characters for the 007 franchise.
The character could also get her own spin-off as the Bond universe could be expanding after streaming giant Amazon bought Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) for $8.45 billion in 2021.
A Paloma spin-off could pave the way for a lighter tone and for other female characters to develop beyond the traditional 'Bond girl'.

Despite the bookies naming their top picks for 007, Bond producer Barbara Broccoli has recently stated there will be a "reinvention of Bond' and proclaimed: "Nobody's in the running."
It's likely that when they are casting Bond, they will opt for a younger, lesser known actor, as they did with Daniel Craig in 2005 so they can get a lot of movie milage out of them before they age out.
There is a young rising star in the ranks that could be a perfect candidate for the next 007 – Irish actor Daryl McCormack.
At 29 years old, the Peaky Blinders cast member is a good age to play a younger Bond and clearly has the talent for one of the best roles in cinema. But will producers go for the 6'2 actor, over a household name like Tom Hardy or Henry Cavill?
