Hardy vs Cavill: Who will be the next Bond?

Henry Cavill (left) and Tom Hardy (right)

The candidate list for the next James Bond has several household names including Regé-Jean Page, Tom Hopper, Aidan Turner and Richard Madden. Idris Elba also has great odds and is a top fan pick.

But there are two names that have remained steadily at the top of the list since Daniel Craig announced his departure – Witcher star Henry Cavill and Venom lead Tom Hardy.

The two actors both have different abilities and strengths they could bring to a spy role and both have expressed varying levels of interest in playing Bond.

So how do these two Hollywood stars measure up against each other? Who would look better in a tux? We're tallying up each actor's credentials to see who might be the better Bond.

Find out who we thought has the edge here and don't forget to leave a comment to have your say on what you think of our choice. Do you agree with The Exploding Pen?

Moore's staggering wealth and spending

Sir Roger Moore as James Bond

Sir Roger Moore is one of the most popular James Bond actors and played the character in seven feature films between 1973 and 1985.

Alongside critical acclaim and fan adoration, Moore also amassed a fortune during his 68-year-long career which earned him a net worth of $110million (£89million) at the time of his death in 2017.

The English actor, producer and director had over 50 film credits to his name but was still best known for his Bond role and regularly tops 'Best Bond' lists and fan polls.

He was also known for his inspiring philanthropy work and used his fortune for good. Moore was knighted "for services to charity" by the Queen in 2003 and also given a lifetime achievement award by UNICEF in 2012.

How did Moore acquire his weath and what did he spend it on besides charitable donations? Find out here.
