The rugged and wild landscapes of Iceland have played host to many films and TV series that come to film in jaw-dropping locations including James Bond.
Jökulsárlón, a serene glacial lagoon located in South-East Iceland, was used as an icy and baren filming location in A View to a Kill (1985) and Die Another Day (2002).
In 1985, Iceland was chosen as a filming location for A View to a Kill for political reasons. Iceland served as the 'USSR' in scenes shot at Jökulsárlón and is one of the rare times when Bond has not been filmed in the actual destination where it's supposed to take place.
In Die Another Day, starring Pierce Brosnan as 007, the lagoon was frozen and a thrilling car chase over the ice was filmed with Brosnan driving the classic Aston Martin DB5.
According to Guide to Iceland, the production company also got very lucky as the lagoon doesn't always freeze as it's connected to seawater. Thankfully for the production team the ice was thick enough for the memorable scene to take place on the icy landscape.
Today, Bond fans can visit Jökulsárlón on a guided full-day trip and marvel at the Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, Diamond Beach, and more. Prices are from £138.

Page is best known for his role as the Duke in Netflix smash Bridgeton. The British actor shot to fame starring as Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings, in the Netflix romance series alongside Phoebe Dynever's Daphne Bridgerton.
He is also due to star in the upcoming Dungeons and Dragons movie which is due for release in 2023 and will also star in the upcoming Netflix movie The Grey Man, directed by Anthony and Joe Russo.
Page has been riding high in the top spot for a while now but it looks like he has slipped down the rankings and is being overtaken by another favourite Henry Cavill.
Why is Henry Cavill back at number one? | | Why Clint Eastwood turned down 007 role after Sean Connery | | In the late 1960s Dirty Harry star Clint Eastwood was tipped to take over the role of James Bond after Sir Sean Connery left the role due to feuds with producers.
Reports of rows over money, lack of privacy and even a court case ultimately led to Connery quitting the franchise much to the dismay of 007 fans who loved his rogueish charm.
The Scottish actor even demanded $1 million with a percentage of the film's gross if they wanted him to make 1969's On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Producers refused and so a vacancy for 007 was created.
After Connery's exit, producers were shopping around for a new 007 and they asked Clint Eastwood.
At the time Eastwood was nowhere near as famous as he is today and the role would have likely taken the star down a different acting path.
Surprisingly, the actor turned down the major movie opportunity, a bold movie considering the iconic nature of the role. One of the reasons he sited was that he thought James Bond should be British.
