How to Really Eat a Soup Dumpling

Look, I need to level with you really quick. I can't seem to get motivated this morning, and it may have something to do with the fact that I can't stop watching videos of a TikTok grandma who speaks in the vocal pattern of a surfer bro and has puka shells braided into her hair. It's hypnotic and I can't decide if it's a good thing or a bad thing that I am able to watch it whenever I want. I'm trying to remember what it felt like to just have a telephone and a television with a hazy picture, back when we used to have to churn our own butter and make our own fun. Would I be happier without the TikTok surfer grandma? I'll have to keep you posted.

One element of our online life that never gets me down is the Thrillist newsletter. Today we have: a tutorial on how to eat soup dumplings, a travel guide for Hanoi, a whistleblower-themed cocktail recipe, and a national parks packing list.

I'm off to rub two sticks together to try and make a fire. It's time to get back to the basics.

Picture this: You get off the plane, pulling a roller bag behind you, adjusting your traveling cap and sunglasses. You're in Hanoi. Now what? Well, we have an exhaustive guide to making your time in Vietnam's capital a true whirlwind to remember. Understanding the complicated history of the city and its relationship with America is a good starting point. Exploring the French Quarter or the Old Quarter or eating banh mi at some special spots or checking out the beautiful pagodas or imbibing some laughing gas at the bar should also definitely be on your list.

Wow, 1972 called. Between visiting Hanoi and this story about how the Watergate Hotel has a new "whistleblower-themed" cocktail menu, I am ready to put on a leisure suit and cry along to "Nights in White Satin" by the soft light of my lava lamp. That's right, the Watergate has some special cocktails dedicated to free speech and transparency, and they shared one of the spicy recipes with us.

I'll drink to that http://static2.thrillist.com/_.gif

Michelle Stelly is also known as the Wandering Queen, and she knows her way around the national parks. She was kind enough to talk to Thrillist about her adventures on the trail and give her recommendations for the best backpacks, boots, tents, and headlamps to make your outdoor excursion fit for royalty.
