The film explores the different facets of relationships where we get to see Padukone romance Chaturvedi on screen for the first time. Directed by Shakun Batra, the film was anticipated to be an interesting watch. Twitter has been abuzz with talks about the film. While some are raving about how good the film is, courtesy of Padukone's acting (only), others are comparing it to be an upgraded version of Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna. It is established that while some things about the film work, most of them don't make sense to people. Ananya Panday, surprisingly, has managed to impress the crowd as well. However, due to the Covid-19 lockdown, the shoot was delayed and the release date was postponed. Batra's Gehraiyaan  seems to be the first major Indian feature to credit its intimacy coordinator Dar Gai right on the film poster—a serious achievement that drew several compliments online. The movie released on Amazon Prime Video on February 11, 2022.
